Margaret L. Skillin, 81, of Texhoma, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday afternoon, August 26, 2014.

The daughter of George and Ethel (Buzzard) Brooks, she was born March 3, 1933 in Swope, Virginia.

Margaret moved to the area in 1946, at the age of 13. She was married to Robert Searle on March 3, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1975.

Margaret and Jim Skillin were married October 20, 1975 in Guymon. She had worked as a clerk at Taylors, along with being a devoted family caretaker. She also had a great love for her cats.

Jane Weinheimer Stedje Wells
Jane Wells, 89, passed away early Friday, August 22, 2014 in Austin, Texas.
Jane Stedje Wells was born in Anaheim, CA on October 31, 1924, to Russell and Irene Weinheimer. She graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1942, and she then attended a business school. Jane was hired by Southern California Edison Company where she worked as the executive administrative assistant. She met Clifford Stedje and they married on May 20, 1950. They had three children, Nancy Irene, Linda Clara and Steven Russell.

Elizabeth (Liz) Lewis, 78, of Guymon, Oklahoma passed away on August 25, 2014 in Amarillo, Texas.  
The daughter of Ottis and Irene Gurwell, Liz was born in Guymon on August 12, 1936. 
Liz was a 1954 graduate of Guymon High School. She married Bill Lewis on November 30, 1957 in the Guymon First Baptist Church. The couple lived on the Gurwell homestead north of town where they farmed and ranched on the land just as the generations before them. Their son Mark carries on the family tradition today.

Lydia Costilla, 62, passed away Saturday morning, August 23, 2014 at the Hendricks Hospital Hospice in Abilene, Texas.

The daughter of Raul and Carmen (Zamora) Costilla, she was born March 10, 1952 in Levelland, Texas.

Lydia was a resident of the Abilene State Supported Living Center.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raul Costilla; one brother, Rudy Costilla and two sisters: Erma Gilbert and Maria Asmussen.

Heaven Leigh Star Burwell, newborn daughter of Theresa and Thad Burwell, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at North West Texas Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.
Baby Heaven Leigh Star was born August 21st.

Darla Hogan, 63, lifelong panhandle resident, passed away Wednesday evening, August 20, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

The daughter of Sam and Minnie (Elliott) Cayton, she was born July 20, 1951 in Guymon. Darla attended the Plainview school in the Griggs Community, graduated from the Keyes High School with the Class of 1969, and graduated from Panhandle State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973.

Moses Awoul 37 year old Liberal, Kansas resident passed away Wednesday August 13, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas.

Moses Mabil Awoul was born on April, 16 1977 in Kakuma, Sudan to Awoul Deng and Achoul Anijong Dhuor.

Moses was a part of the Lost Boys who traveled fifteen hundred miles from Sudan to Ethiopia. This was a movement that left twenty thousand boys either displaced or orphaned. Life was tough there, but Moses made a living as a shop keeper. He was a very good businessman.

The daughter of James and Eliza May (Madison) Yancy, she was born November 5, 1920 in Burkett, Texas.

Shirley Ann Walton, 76, of Guymon, passed away Tuesday morning August 12, 2014 at the Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kansas.

The daughter of Harley Lee and Baby Ruth (White) Martin, she was born January 4, 1938 in Ida, Louisiana.

She was married to Ray Walton on May 6, 1956 in Purcell, Oklahoma The family moved to Guymon from Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1966. Shirley was a homemaker, member of the Lifeway Christian Center and TOPS. She loved raising her children and going to church.
