Spearman stabbing case now closed

July 25, 2014

A Texas Panhandle town was filled with worried residents after word spread of a perpetrator hurting a minor in the community. Earlier in the month, around 7:30 p.m., a 15-year-old girl was found in Spearman on Main Street and was believed to have been stabbed, and was later reported to be in good condition after the incident.
Spearman Police Department immediately began to investigate the situation, even offering a reward up to $500 for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the act.
Yesterday, Spearman Chief of Police Lance Swan said the case is now closed.
“We did an extensive investigation and spent many man hours on this case, but in the end it was shown that there was never a perpetrator,” he said.
Swan said due to the victim being a minor, information including her name and other details would not be revealed.
“We would like to thank the Spearman EMS, Hansford County Sheriff’s Office, Hansford Hospital and many others that helped in this case,” he said.
