A local Guymon woman is going to be honored for her outstanding leadership and volunteerism in the community over the years. Evlyn Schmidt will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony by the Girl Scouts.
The ceremony is being held on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Girl Scouts Regional Development Director, Alason Moorhead, said that with everything Evlyn has contributed, on top of volunteerism in Guymon, she was a natural choice.
âEvyln has an extensive history with Girl Scouts,â said Moorhead. âEvery volunteer position there is, sheâs done it.â
Moorhead said Evyln has been in Girl Scouts since high school and is still actively involved in many ways. This Lifetime Achievement Award is described by Moorhead as a person who is the epitome of a leader and role model for a girl, and Evyln fits this description without a doubt.
There will be four honorees in attendance for this awards luncheon on Wednesday.
âEvylnâs award is truly one of the highest honors we can give.â
