Radiology center receives ACR certification

January 30, 2012

BAs Panhandle Imaging Center in Guymon strives to stay ahead of the curve and provide the best customer service possible, after a six month process, the center recently became ACR (American College of Radiology) Certified.
New regulations by Medicare require imaging centers to be ACR Certified to recieve reimbursment for services rendered to patients.
“We are probably the first imaging center in the area to become certified,” said Radiology Supervisor Lynn Shaffer. “The closest imaging center to us is probably Woodward or Amarillo.”
Shaffer went on to report, in addition to the application process itself, for certification, various clinical images had to be sent for review and a thorough inspection of the center’s equipment had to be performed by a physicist to ensure everything was up to standard.
Shaffer reports, Panhandle Imaging currently has equipment capable of performing MRIs, CT scans, x-rays, ultrasounds and bone density testing.
