Pigskin roundup -- Tyrone topples former 8-man powerhouse Shattuck; tough losses for Hooker, Goodwell

September 29, 2012

Staff report

Tyrone 52, Shattuck 30
The Tyrone Bobcats rolled over former Oklahoma 8-man football powerhouse Shattuck in a home game Friday night.
The win comes on the heals of a loss to Forgan last week.
Tyrone is now 3-2 after a loss to Forgan last week,
The Bobcats got off to a good start this season, winning their first two games by the 45-point run rule in the third quarter each time. The rule applies in Oklahoma 8-man football.
Shattuck set a national record for the most wins a few years back.

Okeene 40, Hooker 26
Okeene handed Hooker a 40-26 loss at Hooker Friday night.
The Bulldogs are now 3-2.
Taylor McBee scored three touchdowns and Joe Bean recorded one.
“They (Okeene) had a deceptive record. They are a good team. All the teams they played were all top 10 teams,†said Hooker head coach Jake Kreamer.
“We played a good game. We only lost by two scores,†he said.
“We came out slow and gave them too much on the ground. It took a while for our ground game to get going. We fought the whole second half and did good,†Kreamer said.
Coming out slow might have cost the Bulldogs their third loss.
Hooker will play at Fairview next week.

Waynoka 66, Goodwell 22
The Waynoka Railroaders defeated the Eagles 66-22 in Goodwell’s homecoming game Friday night.
The Eagles are now 0-5.
Goodwell lost two key starters to injuries earlier in September and Jeremy Collins left the game Friday night with cramps, leaving the Eagles with fewer starters the team depended on early in the season.
“Tonight a lot of freshmen stepped up and helped us out,†said Goodwell head coach Jason Pierson.
He named Conner Boley and Christian Aborthnot as two of the freshmen that played well.
“We’ve just got to keep moving forward for the future. We’re just moving forward,†Pierson said.
The Eagles will play at Buffalo next week.
