At first glance, nothing seems different at Anchor D Bank. And that’s just the way bank officials like it.
The bank, formerly known as The First National Bank of Texhoma, changed its name to Anchor D Bank on Dec. 31. But other than the name change, the public won’t notice a difference.
That’s the beauty of it all,” said Anchor D’s Chief Operating Officer, Lynne Langham. “You’re going to see the same faces, same service, same products. Everything that you’re used to is going to stay the same.”
The bank changed from a national to a state charter, so it had to change its name.
“We just felt like it would benefit our customers more in the long run because it’s the difference between two systems, a national and a state system,” Langham said. “Oklahoma has such a strong state system.
“Oklahoma City is going to relate a lot better to small community banks than Washington D.C.”
Selecting a new name for the bank was a long process.
“Our biggest desire was to make it unique and to make it something that fits the area,” Langham said. “That’s why we spent so many months.”
Langham said the feedback from customers and non-customers alike has been nothing but positive. Longtime area residents like the name’s tie-in to the past as many had relatives who settled and worked at the Anchor D Ranch.
“People love the new name, love the way it fits our area,” Langham added. “Even people who are not customers have told me or e-mailed me and told me that they like our new name. I thought that was a great validation.”
