John Orlando Cole, Jr.

Memorial services for John Cole, Jr., 57, longtime resident of Texhoma, were Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Texhoma.
John was born Feb. 26, 1955, in Hereford, Texas, to Claudia Mae (Brown) and John Orlando Cole.
After a brief fight of colon cancer, John passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at his father’s home in Newcastle, Okla. John graduated from Texhoma High School in 1973. While attending high school, John enjoyed running long distance for the Texhoma Red Devils track team and received many metals in this sport.
Survivors, include son, Jayson Cole of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Myranda Gurley and husband Mark of rural Texhoma; one granddaughter, Karsyn Gurley; his father, John Cole, Sr. of Newcastle; 4 sisters, Brownie Floyd and husband Neil of Granbury, Texas; Janetta Shores and husband Galen of Newcastle; Shirley Ham and husband Roger of Smyrna, S.C.; Maura Gruver and husband Stanley, of Shalimar, Fla.; two nieces, four nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Claudia Cole, in January of this year.
