January 24, 2014

Jose Hernandez-Valdez, 44, of Hardesty, currently sits in the Texas County Jail on two counts of alleged lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 12.

On Wednesday, Associate Judge Ronald Kincannon issued a warrant for Hernandez-Valdez’ arrest due to testimony from a child formerly of Hardesty. He was arrested on the alleged charges Friday morning, according to the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.

The 13-year-old child, who no longer resides in the area, said Hernandez-Valdez abused him/her during an interview with a child abuse response team downstate. The child said the alleged abuse occurred while he/she was four or five years of age, according to the affidavit for warrant of arrest.

Hernanez-Valdez is currently being held in the Texas County Jail on $150,000 bond. A court date for Hernandez-Valdez was not available as of press time.
