Guymon firefighters rescue woman from burning home

A Guymon woman was airlifted to Lubbock’s Burn Center after firefighters said she was trapped inside a burning home.
Guymon firefighters responded to a 911 call of a house on fire at 9:17 p.m. Friday night. When fire units arrived at 6163 Sunset, officials say neighbors and friends immediately told them a woman and her pets were still inside the house and they were unable to get her out.
“Heavy black smoke was coming from behind the garage doors, living room windows, and eves of the roof upon firefighters arrival,” said Grant Wadley, Assistant Fire Chief.
Wadley says it took firefighters about ten minutes to search and find the victim. She was unconscious when firefighters pulled her from the burning house. Guymon paramedics immediately began care and transported her to the Stratford Airport where LifeStar’s medical helicopter transported her to the Lubbock Burn Center. She’s listed in critical condition. Authorities are not releasing the victims name at this time.
Wadley says firefighters were called in from Goodwell and Hooker to assist in putting the fire out. The fire was completely out around midnight.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Guymon Fire Department. Early estimates of the cost of damage is $150,000.
