Doc Gardner Memorial Rodeo Top Hand Auction This Saturday

January 29, 2013

With a scrumptious meal provided by Hunny’s BBQ, great live music by the Wooden Nickel
Band, and a building full of community supporters to meet this year’s rodeo team; the Pickle Creek
Event Center looks to be a packed house on Feb. 2. It’s time for the annual Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo Team Top Hand Auction this Saturday. Don’t miss it!
OPSU rodeo team members will be auctioned off for 4 hours of work along with many fine western tack and décor items as well. Some of the larger items on the list include a Colorado Elk Hunt donated by Joe Latham, a pinewood end table built by Paul Latham, and a handcrafted Canadian tree root table by Kane and Wanda Larsen.
Quality hand-tooled leather pieces from headstalls to book binders, an original painting of Deke Latham (86 All Around and Bull Riding CNFR Champion) by Fred Peterson, autographed photos of
professional cowboys, and a signed Lane Frost Cowboy Bible from Lane’s parents Clyde and Elsie Frost will all be up for auction with much, much more.
For the first time, all buyers will have an opportunity to bid on an additional pair of top hands this year. Along with all rodeo team members, Coaches Craig Latham and Robert Etbauer will be auctioned for 4 hours of work as well.
Come enjoy a Saturday night with the team. There is something for everyone, from hardworking individuals, beautiful art, furniture pieces, and western items all up for bid. This auction helps provide the team with the livestock needed for practice, for feed and utility costs, and in helping
the rodeo team produce the best rodeo of the Central Plains Region year after year.
The rodeo team appreciates the support from the many sponsors, communities, and individuals,
and looks forward to seeing everyone. Come join the team for a free meal, dance, and fun filled night on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Pickle Creek Event Center. For more information please check out Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo on Facebook.
