Beulah Fields, 102, longtime area resident, passed away Saturday morning, May 31, 2014, in Sherman, Texas.
The daughter of Carrie Belle (Tuttle) and Samuel Elison Archer, Beulah Jane Archer was born February 16, 1912 in Medford, Oklahoma. She attended Jet, OK High School and was united in marriage to Theodore Leo Fields on December 23, 1923 in San Antonio, TX. The Fields lived in the Baker community, where they farmed and raised their family. The perfect example of the depression farm wife, Mrs. Field was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She cooked for many years at the Baker School and later at the Guymon Memorial Hospital. Beulah was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Staying active was her key to staying young, so she loved bowling until the age of 92, playing bridge and beating most opponents until the age of 98. Beulah shared her knitting and crocheting talents, gifting her family and friends with her beautiful afghans. Beulah had recently moved to Possum Kingdom Lake to be closer to her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Fields, 2 daughters, Delnora Leudtke and Deloris Mendenhall; 4 brothers, 1 sister; and a grandson.
She is survived by a son, Ted Fields, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Texhoma, OK; 2 daughters, Donna Hood and husband, Joe, of Sherman, TX; and Ruth McCracken of Possum Kingdom Lake, Graford, TX; 29 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
