Denise Keylon is known for her generosity and service to others.
Now, Denise is facing the greatest challenge of her life.
Denise was struck by a vehicle while trying to help a stranded motorist outside Texhoma in the early morning hours of Dec. 23. She was flown to Amarillo and has undergone several surgeries, including a foot amputation.
As a way to give back, Tene Nelson has organized a bake sale with all proceeds going to help Denise. The bake sale will take place from 2-9 p.m. Saturday in the hall outside Mitchell Theaters.
Nelson will be joined by Sarah Miller, and any others who want to volunteer.
“We need help with getting some baked goods,” Nelson said. “We’re selling individual-sized items for a dollar.”
Workers from the Texas County Courthouse are making casseroles to sell, also.
“We’re needing some donations, any money donations, any sort of help we can possibly get would be great,” Nelson said.
Denise is a Texhoma resident who teaches fourth grade at Academy Elementary School in Guymon. She faced tragedy two years ago when her son Kody was killed in a car accident.
She recently started Kody’s Kloset, which was taking donations of clothing, coats, etc., to help those in need.
Now, Denise is in need of the community’s support.
“She was trying to help a family, and it’s just tragic,” Nelson said. “She needs help and I want to give it.”
The bake sale is from 2-9 in front of Mitchell Theaters. Anybody who wants to help can call Nelson at 461-9164.
