Ag Appreciation Day is Jan. 24

The Guymon Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for Panhandle Ag Appreciation Day coming up on Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Texas County Activity Center.
“Panhandle Ag Appreciation Day celebrates the agriculture industry and the importance it brings to our very way of life,” said Guymon Chamber Director, Jada Breeden. “The people that provide our agricultural livelihood have the opportunity to spend the day learning about important issues.”
Booths open at 9 a.m. and there will be a free lunch from Noon-1 p.m.
“Vendors specifically interested in keeping the Ag industry functioning to its maximum potential will have their goods and services on display throughout the day,” Breeden said. “Everyone is welcome to attend the free lunch featuring the presentation of awards to the Ag Business of the Year and to the Ag Producer of the Year, scholarship presentations and an award from Texas County Conservation District for ‘2012 Outstanding Cooperator.’”
Major sponsors of the event include Farm Credit: Western Oklahoma, CRI Feeders of Guymon, LLC, Hitch, Seaboard Foods, Bank of the Panhandle, Clift Land Brokers, Anchor D Bank, and Hooker Equity.
Contributors include Buck Irrigation, Gigot Agra Products, Inc., Oklahoma Pork Council, Texas County Farm Bureau, Tri-County Electric Cooperative, United Supermarket, and Walmart.

Noon-1 p.m. – Awards, scholarship presentations and free lunch
1:30-2:30 p.m. – Oklahoma Water Resources Board update
2:30-3 p.m. – Clean Line Energy Update
3-4 p.m. – Mick Lewis, Ag Marketing
6 p.m. – Free dinner and entertainment by Sara Richter sponsored by Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma and Seaboard Foods
