75th Annual Groundhog Supper is Sunday in Hooker

January 27, 2012

The Hooker Methodist Church is planning the 75th Annual Groundhog Supper, which will be held at the church this Sunday, Jan. 29, from 4:30 - 7 p.m.
According to the event’s Chairman, John Lambley, the Groundhog Supper is hosted by the Methodist Men with proceeds going to help pay for various scholarships, church camp, etc., offered throughout the year.
For $8 per adult and $3 for children 12 and under, attendees will enjoy an all-you-can-eat meal of patted and link sausage, sauerkraut with red meat, beef liver, home aid biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy, applesauce and ice-cream, as well as entertaining gospel music from a live band lead by Chris Walls.
“We’ve ordered 300 pounds of sausage, 200 patties and 100 links,” Lambley said. “We had approximately 300 people come out last year, which was a little low but we hope for more this year.”
Lambley added, the meal will be served downstairs, however, there will be an elevator available for those who can not make it down the stairs, take-out orders are accepted and delivery is available within Hooker for residents who are unable to make it to the event.
Any leftovers after 7 p.m. will be on sell as well.
“The delivery is a service we offer with so many of the older residents,” Lambley said. “Come out for food and fellowship.”
