Second half surge lifts Tigers to 4-0 win over Noble

GUYMON — The Guymon Tiger men’s soccer team dominated all facets of Friday night’s District 5A-1 game against Noble. But they didn’t have anything to show for it after the first 40 minutes ended in a scoreless tie.

But Kassius Urquiza’s goal less than a minute into the second half opened the flood gates as the Tigers notched a 4-0 win over the Bears to improve to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in district, with two more district games left — April 18 at Carl Albert and April 25 at El Reno.

Heritage Hall sweeps Guymon soccer

GUYMON — The Guymon Tigers knew they were in for a tough match as the No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City Heritage Hall Chargers visited Carl & Lou McKinnon Field at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
And the Chargers didn’t disappoint.

The Hall posted a 5-2 District 5A-1 win over the Tigers to remain undefeated at 8-0, while Guymon evened out at 4-4 overall heading into Friday’s district match at home against Noble.

Tigers grab district win over Guthrie; Lady Tigers fall in final seconds

GUTHRIE — The Guymon High School boys soccer team improved its record to 4-3 overall with a 4-0 district win at Guthrie on Friday night. Four different Tigers scored as Guymon took 20 shots on goal to just six for the Blue Jays.

•The Lady Tigers fell to Guthrie 1-0 as the Lady Jays scored the winning goal with 9 seconds to play.

K-101 Classic Bowl teams announced

The 2014 K-101 Classic Bowl football game is set for May 31 at Boomer Stadium on the campus of Woodward High School. Three Texas County players were invited to play — Austin Stonecipher from Guymon and Texhoma’s Ramy Anderson and Taylor Folsom.

The K-101 girls basketball games will take place May 27 at 6:30 and 8 p.m. in Boomer Fieldhouse, with the boys games May 29 at 6:30 and 8 p.m. The cheerleading competition will take place at 8 a.m. May 31, followed by a parade through downtown Woodward at 2 p.m.

The football game will be at 8 p.m. May 31.

Tigers down Woodward; Lady Tigers fall 5-1

WOODWARD — The Guymon Tiger boys soccer team evened its record at 3-3 with a 1-0 win over Woodward on Tuesday night at Boomer Stadium.
Josue Espinoza scored the only goal of the game for either team as the Tigers out-shot Woodward 19-5 and took 11 shots on goal. John Avalos recorded five saves in pitching a shutout in the net for Guymon.
Espinoza’s goal came 12 minutes into the second half.

•The Lady Tigers (3-4 overall) suffered three major injuries in their 5-1 loss to the Lady Boomers. Annette Puentes, Yaniri Ontiveros and Haylie Eyer were out for Guymon.

Deer Creek takes district double-header from Guymon

GUYMON — Edmond Deer Creek scored 16 runs on 11 hits in the top of the first inning of game one of Tuesday’s district double-header at Asa Howard Legion Field en route to a 29-0 win over Guymon.

Deer Creek took game two, 13-3.

Tigers down Westmoore; Lady Tigers lose two straight

MUSTANG — The Guymon Tiger boys soccer team regained its winning form on Saturday at the Mustang Tournament, downing Westmoore, 1-0. Guymon’s record stands at 2-3 overall.

•Meanwhile, in Chickasha, the Guymon Lady Tigers picked up a pair of losses — 3-0 to Duncan and 1-0 to Elgin.

Liberal hands Lady Tigers shootout loss

GUYMON — Liberal’s Yvette Vazquez scored on her team’s fifth shootout penalty kick and the Liberal goal keeper made the save on Jocelin Montelongo’s shot in Guymon’s final attempt and the Lady Redskins handed the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season, 4-3 in an overtime penalty kick shootout at Carl & Lou McKinnon Field at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. The score was 1-1 after regulation, and Liberal won the shootout, 3-2.

Tigers pick up first regular season win

GUYMON — The Guymon High School men’s soccer team grabbed its first win of the season in dominating fashion Friday night, 5-0 over the Del City Eagles at Carl & Lou McKinnon Field.

6-0 win equals 2-0 start for Lady Tigers

GUYMON — The Guymon Lady Tigers soccer team dominated Del City in all aspects of the game to post a 6-0 win on Friday afternoon. It’s the first time in several years the Guymon girls team started 2-0.
