Lady Devils squeeze past Boise City

November 22, 2014

TEXHOMA — Sarah Murphy drained a game-high 28 points to keep the Texhoma Lady Red Devils in the game on an otherwise poor shooting night for Texhoma as the Lady Red held off pesky Boise City 52-47 Friday night.

Murphy did most of her damage in the fourth quarter as Texhoma (1-0) relinquished a 26-22 halftime lead and trailed 35-34 entering the fourth.

Texhoma led by as much as six late in the second, but went cold in the third quarter, and Boise City’s Addison Munsch and Destiny Spell hit some key shots to pull the Lady Wildcats (0-1) into the lead at 3:44 of the third.

TEXHOMA — Dylan Koehn and Mychael Johnson each scored 19 points and Moises Garay 10 to lead the Texhoma Red Devils to a 60-43 win over Boise City, Friday night.

The win was solid despite both teams one week removed from first-round football playoff losses.

It took Boise City a bit longer to get on track.
“We had a great start, great start in the first half,” Texhoma head coach Greg Higgins said. “Boise City’s a great team. They’re a good offensive team, they play good defense, they mix up their defenses and traps. They’re a good team.”

Bobcats slay Bison in opener

November 21, 2014

TYRONE — The Tyrone Bobcats opened the 2014-2015 campaign in mid-season form, easily handling a young and inexperienced Hardesty squad, 79-12 on Thursday night.

“You could just tell they were an inexperienced team,” Tyrone coach Clay Witt said of the Bison. “We were jumping inside the lanes early, but then we tried to back off, tried to work on some other things.

“It’s early in the season for both teams, we want to help them, they’re our neighbors, help them get better and they’re helping us get better.”
